Well it's been a hell of a 6 months since the club last locked it's doors on 27th February but here we go again! Court bookings are now not possible until midnight on Tuesday 24th August before which time I'm sure we will have further news that will govern ongoing restrictions.

With the tennis club lease expiring next May it's exciting to report that the council have approached myself about the instigation of a lease agreement for the club. Previously, we've survived with an informal arrangement and it would be good to enter a formal arrangement.

Superchamps title/ Interclub early success/ School Prog/ Top of refs standings!

A marvellous effort by our D grade Superchamps squad to win the regional title and qualify for nationals from Sep 22-25 in Manurewa. Additional to the players photographed Sophie also played two matches and Daniella one. Our E grade ladies as bottom seeds beat North Shore and acquitted themselves well against higher graded opponents. Ernie will now be guiding the D grade team towards the national eliminations which will be intense.

Our ladies D grade and E grade teams kick off their campaigns this week with the E grade team taking on North Shore at North Shore on Weds and the D grade team kicking off as top seeds on Friday. on Friday. I'll send a Superchamps update mid-week and wish our teams well.

Club tournament results We had 26 home club players competing amongst a field of 56 entrants for this tournament with the following notable results; • Mens div 1 Martyn Tuffin (runner-up) • Womens div 1: Catie Levell (winner), Siri Sriamporn (runner-up) • Mens div 4: Leo van Delden (runner-up) • Junior div 2: Jay Anderson (winner), Shezaan Adam (runner-up)

We have 22 home club players amongst a likely field of 54 entrants for this tournament. A good tally with the Papakura tourney and Junior age group nationals on over the same weekend. Draws will be available tomorrow.

Annual club tournament (July 9/11). A doubling of reservations in the past week to 31 entrants. Just a quarter of our own club members are enrolled for our only tournament this year and it would be great to see this increase. Enroll via this link.

Renovations update/ Enrol for our tournament/ Interclub news/ Invest in a new racket

Court 2 renovations are running a little late as can be seen from the photograph below taken yesterday evening. The good news is the delivery of the final tranche of LED fittings which Thorn otherwise were not expecting in the country until Aug 28th. Once court 2 lights are installed light measures will be taken and we will reduce the number of fittings in the end courts where light reflecting from the side wall is creating very high light intensity.

Exciting times for our club as we build towards 3, maybe 4 team entries, in the annual Superchamps competition which provides a focal point for many club players. The developing strength, particularly in our female ranks, means this competition could not come at a better time for us.
