Our annual tournament takes place from Thur 29 June-Sat 1 July on our courts and entry can be made via i-squash here. Adults $40, J graders $20 including prize giving supper. Please show your support by registering via i squash here. There will be junior "J" grade as well as adult draws.

Our Womens 2 team chose to celebrate at Ladies night last week and invited me along on account of my famed feijoa crumble and master snapper role. Here's the team shot and party supper. Nice work girls!

Our bottom mens team have really pulled their socks up this league to push up to 4th place and in contention for the cup semis with a small cushion of points down to the team below. With Neil injured they need a top-up player for the remaining matches at Pukokohe (May 29th) and Henderson (June 12th) who would then qualify to play in the finals. Your chance of glory, anybody keen?

The committee resolved a few things this week. Neil has pledged to get started with renovation of the toilets/ corridor areas so if anyone has time to help with this project please talk to him or me. Graham and Dan are going to co-ordinate the replacement of our booking system with My-squash with i squash being turned off in the first couple of months next year. And our Open tournament scheduled for 29 June-1 July will culminate in a mid-Xmas roast which we hope will draw some further entrants.

Intermediate zone day/ College Squash/ Membership renewals complete/ Upcoming tournaments

Our membership renewal period is now over and thanks to all our members who responded with the outcome being that almost all members have now either been renewed or struck off i squash. It's been sad to witness such a large proportion of our social members retiring from the sport and membership retention will be a key issue to address by the committee at our next meeting.

Mens 1 cliffhanger & interclub results/ Membership renewals due by tomorrow/ Juniors going hard!

Action got underway last week in Winter interclub and there was a remarkable result in Mens 1 which saw our top team matched against a NS team including ex-SP players Geoff & Matt Miller. Tuesday saw us trailing 6/5 with Ernie playing a re-scheduled match on Weds. This went to the wire with Ernie pulling through 15/13 in the fifth to level scores 8/8. Countback saw SP win by a point 216/215 to claim the bonus 2 table points. Well done Ernie & team!

Interclub underway tomorrow/ local board meeting/ junior coaching/ bridge crossing

I attended this session last Monday on behalf of the club and put a strong case forward for maintaining funding for community groups like our own with consequential health and life-style benefits. We also had a presentation from AT about the five Auckland crossing options which requires public feedback by Monday 1 May. I would recommend you making a submission via this link. Who knows, under one option you might get a local railway station! There is also a public session for which a poster is below. Interested to exchange views on this topic.

Winter interclub draws/ new booking system/ departing members/ Junior tourney

We had our first meeting last week with Hello Club! to start laying the groundwork for the new My Squash booking platform which will replace i-squash in early 2024. I can't wait to make the change as the present system is a dinosaur and we will have the opportunity to create integrated management and financial systems. Graham will be leading the charge with this and we will be liasing with the tennis club who share the same booking system.
